A busy supermarket on the northside of Cork city has closed for a second time in a month.<\/p>\n
Singleton\u2019s SuperValu in Hollyhill posted a notice on its door on Monday saying it was temporarily closed and its staff expected it to reopen on Friday.<\/p>\n
When contacted by The Echo, a spokesperson for Musgrave, which owns the SuperValu franchise, said the company did not wish to comment at this time.<\/p>\n
On September 4, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) issued a closure order on the store\u2019s owner, Crimdale Developments Limited, which is currently in receivership. That closure order was lifted on September 6.<\/p>\n
The FSAI did not provide a reason for the September 4 closure order, but a full report is expected to be published in October.<\/p>\n
At the time, a spokesperson for Musgrave said: \u201cWe can confirm that SuperValu Hollyhill is currently closed to allow essential maintenance works to take place.<\/p>\n
\n \u201cThis is a short-term, temporary measure, and we anticipate we will be in a position to reopen 1pm on Saturday.\u201d\n <\/p>\n
When queried on the reason for the September 4 closure, the spokesperson said: \u201cSuperValu Hollyhill was temporarily closed to allow for essential maintenance works following the identification of a pest control issue.<\/p>\n
\u201cImmediate action was taken to resolve this matter, including engaging external contractors, and the store fully reopened on Saturday, September 6, and is continuing to trade as normal.<\/p>\n
