A father who took his family to Orlando’s Walt Disney World resort<\/a> has highlighted the eye-watering cost of souvenirs and gifts available at the park – sending social media into a frenzy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The American man, who goes by @i_dad_so_hard on TikTok<\/a>, visited the resort in July, where he showcased the ‘ridiculous’ prices of a range of items, from shoes to soft drinks to sparkly backpacks.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In a video <\/a>posted to his page – accompanied by the the caption ‘Disney\u2019s prices get worse the deeper you go’ – the father first pointed his camera at a sign displaying two thirst-quenching drinks.\u00a0<\/p>\n

One of the beverages, a Blueberry Vodka Lemonade, was priced at\u00a0$15.50 (\u00a311.50), while a Canadian Apply Slushy totalled\u00a0$16.50 (\u00a312.20).<\/p>\n

Walking into a gift shop, he stumbled across a pair of Haunted Mansion Crocs priced at a cool\u00a0$64.99 (\u00a348), a pair of mini kids’ Lilo and Stitch Crocs priced at $54.99 (\u00a340) and a\u00a0pink Disney World pyjama set came in at\u00a0$84.99 (\u00a363).<\/p>\n

The father later wandered into a convenience store selling drinks and snacks, where he accused the park of ‘monetising on thirst’ by slapping a $5.29 (\u00a33.90) price tag on a 500ml bottle of Coca Cola.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As he exited the shop and made his way toward another souvenir display, he warned: ‘Whatever price you think it’s gonna be inflated to – add 50 per cent to that!’<\/p>\n

The content creator decided to peruse the homeware section, where he picked up a candle costing $34.99 (\u00a326), before venturing to a children’s gifts area also selling rainbow Mickey Mouse ears for $34.99 .\u00a0<\/p>\n

While showing light-up and bubble wands ranging from $21.99 (\u00a316.40) to $34.99 depending on the colour and design, he revealed he nearly witnessed one child have a ‘meltdown’ over a red and silver sequin Minnie Mouse backpack priced at $100 (\u00a374.50).\u00a0<\/p>\n

Visibly exasperated, the father concluded his tour, sarcastically adding: ‘Yeah, so the next time you see somebody with a Disney hat on… it’s basically Gucci.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

The video sparked debate about the overall cost of visiting Disney World, with over 3,400 comments pouring in from viewers expressing their disapproval.\u00a0<\/p>\n

One person wrote, ‘$55 for the tiny infant crocs is crazy work,’ while another said, ‘Make price-shaming mega corporations the norm.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

Another shared: ‘Everything is ridiculously high. I paid $60 [\u00a344.70] for two 3-piece chicken dinners.’<\/p>\n

A second recounted: ‘Recently went to Sea World and got caught in the rain completely unprepared. I spent $181 [\u00a3134.80] for a t-shirt, cotton shorts, and a beach towel. My husband said it’s the most expensive outfit I own.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, one person quipped, ‘Idiots keep paying it so why not,’ while another agreed, writing, ‘If one pays it, it\u2019s their\u00a0problem. I\u2019ve never been there and don\u2019t have any plans to.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

One viewer jokingly added: ‘Life hack: live in an ultra high cost of living area, so you never get sticker shock.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

It comes as another parent broke down the total cost of his family’s outing to Orlando’s Walt Disney World<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The man, from Florida, U.S., took to social media to break down the family’s outgoings throughout the day, which later sparked a heated debate among viewers about the importance of budgeting.<\/p>\n

In a video, reposted by @financedystop on X, the father documented the price of the family’s tickets, parking, meals and snacks, as well as the staggering cost of items in souvenir shops.<\/p>\n

Before the family entered the park, the father revealed he forked out $30\/\u00a322 for all-day parking.<\/p>\n
