Two of the biggest names in late-night rallied around Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> last night as the host decamped to New York City for a week of shows in the Big Apple.<\/p>\n

Kimmel was even joined by Josh Meyers, the brother of Seth Meyers,<\/a> who parodied California governor Gavin Newsom to mark the host\u2019s first week on the air since he was suspended for his comments about the assassination of Charlie Kirk.<\/a><\/p>\n

Speaking from the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the comedian <\/a>described his program as the \u201cshow the FCC doesn\u2019t want you to see.\u201d<\/p>\n

And, teasing his interview with Colbert, Kimmel<\/a> said the show was going to \u201cdrive the president nuts.\u201d<\/p>\n

During his monologue, Kimmel was joined on stage by Josh Meyers, who played the part of California\u2019s outspoken governor, even sporting Newsom\u2019s famous slicked-back grey hair and gravelly voice.<\/p>\n

Meyers arrived on a bicycle and claimed that he wanted to \u201cbridge a divide.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cL.A. and N.Y.C., we\u2019re not so different,\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, we both just want to be free to smoke weed while riding our electric scooters to a drag queen brunch,\u201d he said, parodying Trump\u2019s claims that Newsom is \u201cwoke.\u201d<\/p>\n

Throughout his appearance, Meyers also copied the language used on Newsom\u2019s social media accounts, which mock Trump’s own rambling social media posts.<\/p>\n

The That ’70s Show star nicknamed Guant\u00e1namo Bay \u201cGuant\u00e1namo Gay\u201d and renamed Kimmel to \u201cJ-dog.\u201d<\/p>\n

Seth Meyers<\/a>, host of Late Night with Seth Meyers, <\/strong>appeared later in the monologue to poke fun at the recent suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/p>\n

Stephen Colbert joined Kimmel on stage later in the program (immy Kimmel Live)<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat happened with your show? I thought this whole thing was, you know \u2026,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Stephen Colbert<\/a> then joined Kimmel for his first interview, while a prerecorded interview between the pair also aired on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.<\/p>\n

Colbert<\/a> shared with his fellow late-night host how he broke the news of his show’s cancellation to his staff and the audience.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy the time I get to my offices, I have sweat through my shirt because I didn\u2019t want to know anything my staff didn\u2019t know.<\/p>\n

“And I said, \u2018I\u2019m going to tell my staff today,\u2019 but then we couldn\u2019t do a show if I told them because everybody would be bummed out and I would be bummed out,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Colbert also added an extra segment to his program that same evening, confusing his stage manager.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I was so nervous about doing it right \u2014 because there was nothing in the prompter, I was just speaking off the cuff \u2014 that I f\u2014 up twice.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I had to restart and the audience thought it was a bit and they started going, \u2018Steve, you can do it.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause I always messed up on the sentence that told them what was happening.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then I got to the sentence that actually told them was happening, and they didn\u2019t laugh,\u201d Colbert added.<\/p>\n

Jimmy Kimmel was taken off the air in September because of his comments about the assassination of Charlie Kirk (ABC\/AFP\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n

According to CBS, Colbert\u2019s<\/a> show was cancelled for \u201cfinancial\u201d reasons, days after the host said that the network had accepted a \u201cbig, fat bribe\u201d from a \u201csitting\u201d government official.<\/p>\n

Kimmel\u2019s own show was suspended by ABC earlier in September, after he claimed that Republicans were trying to use the assassination of Charlie Kirk to score \u201cpolitical points.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also pointed to Trump\u2019s<\/a> reaction to Kirk\u2019s death, where he told reporters that he was \u201cpretty good\u201d before changing the subject and talking about the \u201cnew ballroom for the White House.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, he\u2019s at the fourth stage of grief, construction.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish, OK?,\u201d Kimmel joked.<\/p>\n

He had previously said on social media that his family sent \u201clove to the Kirks\u201d and to anyone who falls \u201cvictim to senseless gun violence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimmel\u2019s show<\/a> returned last week, where he delivered an opening monologue that racked up 13 million views on YouTube and 5.7 million views on Instagram in 24 hours.<\/p>\n

On last night\u2019s show, Kimmel revealed the moment that he was told that his show was being suspended.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m on the phone with the ABC executives, and they say, \u2018Listen, we want to take the temperature down.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re concerned about what you\u2019re gonna say tonight, and we decided that the best route is to take the show off the air,\u2019\u201d Kimmel said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a vote, and I lost the vote, and so I put my pants back on and I walked out to my office,\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man,\u201d he said, through tears.<\/p>\n
