{"id":97571,"date":"2025-10-01T19:41:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-01T19:41:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/97571\/"},"modified":"2025-10-01T19:41:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-01T19:41:10","slug":"unemployment-rate-remains-unchanged-at-4-7-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/97571\/","title":{"rendered":"Unemployment rate remains unchanged at 4.7% \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The State\u2019s jobless rate remained unchanged at 4.7 per cent in September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The headline rate was up from 4.1 per cent in September last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">The latest data from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/central-statistics-office\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/central-statistics-office\">Central Statistics Office (CSO)<\/a> showed the seasonally adjusted number of people classified as unemployed was 138,200, compared with 138,600 in August. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The agency said there was an increase of 18,900 in the seasonally adjusted number of people unemployed in September 2025 when compared with September 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The youth unemployment rate was 12.2 per cent, up from a revised rate of 12.1 per cent in August.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The monthly unemployment rate for people aged 25-74 years was 3.6 per cent, unchanged from the rate in August 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The unemployment rate here climbed to 4.9 per cent in July, a three-year high, but the lift was dismissed as statistical noise.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The shift represented \u201ca mainly statistical aspect of the estimation process rather than providing any real-economy signal that Ireland\u2019s labour market conditions have worsened in 2025,\u201d Davy chief economist Kevin Timoney said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The State\u2019s jobless rate remained unchanged at 4.7 per cent in September.
