FKA twigs has claimed she still doesn’t “feel safe” after settling her lawsuit with Shia LaBeouf.<\/p>\n
The 37-year-old singer – whose real name is Tahliah Debrett Barnett – had previously filed documents in Los Angeles Superior Court against her 39-year-old actor ex for alleged sexual battery, assault, and infliction of emotional distress during the course of their brief relationship in 2019.<\/p>\n
However, the Carpenter’s Son star later filed to end her lawsuit with prejudice, meaning she cannot refile the claims in the future, and their lawyers confirmed in July that they had “agreed to settle [the] case out of court”.<\/p>\n
Asked if she feels a sense of safety now, she told The Hollywood Reporter: “No, I wouldn\u2019t say I feel safe.<\/p>\n
“I feel really passionate about being involved with organisations such as Sistah Space and No More, to help survivors in any way that I can. “I think it\u2019s less about me at this point and more about looking forward. Just, you know, moving on with my life.\u201d<\/p>\n
FKA previously said she came forward with her allegations in order to show how abusive relationships can affect anyone.<\/p>\n
She said in the lawsuit: \u201cI\u2019d like to be able to raise awareness on the tactics that abusers use to control you and take away your agency.\u201d<\/p>\n
Shia had responded to the allegations through the New York Times, and admitted he had been \u201cabusive to myself and everyone around me for years\u201d.<\/p>\n
However, he insisted that \u201cmany of these allegations are not true\u201d, but also said he owed the women \u201cthe opportunity to air their statements publicly and accept accountability for those things I have done\u201d.<\/p>\n
He revealed last year that FKA was seeking $10 million in damages.<\/p>\n
She once told the New York Times: “What I went through with Shia was the worst thing I\u2019ve ever been through in the whole of my life.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think people would ever think that it would happen to me. But I am not immune.\u201d<\/p>\n
