French shipping group CMA CGM said on Wednesday that one of its vessels, the San Antonio, had been targeted in an attack while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, wounding several crew members and causing damage to the vessel.
The wounded crew members from the attack, which took place on Tuesday, have been evacuated and are being provided with medical care, the company said.
“CMA CGM is closely monitoring the situation and remains fully mobilized alongside the crew,” the company said in a statement.
The incident comes after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targeted the Surdash camp, an Iranian Kurdish area of the Biban region, where families of Iranian Kurdish opponents live, with two drones, the Kurdistan Regional Government Security Directorate stated on Tuesday.
No casualties were reported, according to the security directorate.
Residents in the Iranian cities of Bandar Abbas, Qeshm, and Sirik reported hearing explosions around 4 a.m. local time, several hours after the reported explosions in the Biban region.
Provincial authorities later confirmed the sounds were caused by air defenses intercepting drones, according to the Students News Network.
The authorities added that no impact, damage, or explosion had occurred.
