BAGHDAD — Central Iraq will face moderate to heavy dust storms on Wednesday as strong westerly winds sweep desert areas, while northern regions see continued thunderstorms, the General Authority for Meteorology said.

Central and southern Iraq will be mostly clear with some cloud cover, while northern areas will be partly cloudy with intermittent thunderstorms concentrated in northern and eastern districts. Temperatures will remain close to Tuesday’s levels in central and northern regions and dip slightly in the south.

Westerly to northwesterly winds in central Iraq will reach 20–30 km/h, gusting to 50 km/h and triggering moderate dust storms that will intensify in western and southwestern desert areas. Visibility will drop to 2–4 km in dusty conditions and below 1 km in western parts of the country. Northern and southern areas will see calmer northwesterly winds of 10–20 km/h.
