RUSSELL COUNTY, Va. (WCYB) — Brick by brick one Lebanon 18 year old has been laying a foundation and creating a legacy.

Booker Steffey says he began masonry years ago after his dad put him in a class, and he says since then it’s stuck.

Since then, Steffey has used his talents to represent Lebanon on a state and national scale through competitions.

Steffey is a four-time champion in state competitions that test the precision of brick laying.

He’s also a two-time national champion at the Brick Layer 500 in Las Vegas where masons lay as many bricks as they can in 15 minutes.

Steffey hasn’t just competed.

He’s also used his skills to give back to the community, helping renovate the Russell County Theatre, building the pavilion next to it and, what he’s most proud of, helping build the Lebanon Fire Department.
