“Intermezzo,” the 2024 bestseller by Irish author Sally Rooney, will be published in Hebrew in the coming weeks. Rooney, one of the most prominent cultural figures associated with the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel, has refused since 2021 to sell the Hebrew translation rights to Israeli publishers that do not meet the movement’s guidelines.
