WE HAD THE FIRST GAME BEGINNING AT 1030 THIS MORNING IN CLASS THREE A WAS TRINITY TAKING ON BERMUDIAN SPRINGS, AND THE SHAMROCKS WON THAT GAME 2 TO 1, ALTHOUGH THIS WAS THEIR FIFTH APPEARANCE IN THE DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP GAME SINCE 2021, THIS WAS TRINITY’S FIRST EVER DISTRICT THREE TITLE. I SPOKE WITH PLAYERS AND COACHES AFTER THE GAME ABOUT WHAT WINNING A DISTRICT TITLE MEANS FOR THEIR PROGRAM. IT’S AMAZING, ESPECIALLY WITH A LOT OF NEW TRANSFERS AND EVERYBODY JUST GELLED REAL FAST. WE ALL CAME TOGETHER LIKE ONE FAMILY. AS I TOLD THESE GUYS, WHEN WE PRACTICE IN THE WINTER, WHEN NOBODY’S THERE, WHEN NOBODY’S WATCHING, EVERYTHING WE DO IS WITH A PURPOSE. AND WE DON’T DO IT TO BE GOOD, TO BE AVERAGE. WE DO IT TO BE THE BEST. THEN WE GO TO CLASS FOR A NORTHERN LEBANON. CONTINUE TODAY OF FIRST IN DISTRICT THREE, THE VIKINGS UPSET EAST PENNSBORO, THE FOUR TIME DEFENDING DISTRICT CHAMPIONS, SEVEN ONE WAS THE FINAL SCORE OF THAT GAME FOR NORTHERN LEBANON. IT WAS ALSO THEIR FIRST DISTRICT TITLE IN PROGRAM HISTORY. WHAT DO YOU THINK IS SPECIAL ABOUT THIS GROUP THAT MADE THEM WIN THE FIRST DISTRICT TITLE IN SCHOOL HISTORY? I MEAN, WE HAVE WE HAVE THREE SENIORS HAVE BEEN HERE PLAYING ALMOST EVERY DAY SINCE OUR FRESHMAN YEAR, BIG SENIOR CLASS HAVE BEEN COMMITTED. AND THIS JUST GOES TO SHOW WHAT PERSEVERANCE, DEDICATION, CONSISTENCY IT PAYS OFF IN THE END. AND SOME BIG WINS FOR THOSE TWO PROGRAMS. Trinity and Northern Lebanon captured their first District 3 baseball championships Thursday at Penn Medicine Park, marking historic wins for both programs.Trinity breaks through in Class 3AIn the Class 3A championship, Trinity defeated Bermudian Springs 2-1. Although it was the Shamrocks’ fifth appearance in the district title game since 2021, it marked the program’s first District 3 championship. “It’s amazing, especially with a lot of new transfers, and everybody gelled real fast,” a Trinity senior Garreth Calder said. “We all came together like one family.” A Trinity coach said the team’s preparation helped fuel the breakthrough. “When we practice in the winter, when nobody’s there, when nobody’s watching, everything we do is with a purpose,” Trinity head coach Teed Wertz said. “And we don’t do it to be good, to be average. We do it to be the best.” Northern Lebanon claims first titleIn the Class 4A final, Northern Lebanon upset East Pennsboro, the four-time defending district champion, 7-1, to secure its first district title in school history. “We have three big seniors who have been here playing almost every day since their freshman year,” Northern Lebanon head coach Travis Thome said. “A big senior class has been committed, and this just goes to show what perseverance, dedication, consistency — it pays off in the end.” Both teams advanced to the state tournament and will look to continue their postseason runs. Meanwhile, in the Class 5A championship, Lower Dauphin led Lampeter-Strasburg 3-1 in the first inning.
