U.S. and partner forces intercepted Iranian missiles and drones Tuesday and carried out self-defense strikes against an Iranian military facility after Tehran launched attacks across the Middle East, according to U.S. Central Command.
Iran fired several ballistic missiles toward neighboring countries, but none reached their intended targets, CENTCOM said in an evening news release.
Two missiles launched toward Kuwait either fell short or broke apart during flight, while three missiles fired at Bahrain were intercepted by U.S. and Bahraini air defenses, according to the release.
Earlier, U.S. forces shot down three one-way attack drones launched by Iran toward civilian vessels in regional waters, CENTCOM said.
In response, the U.S. carried out self-defense strikes against an Iranian military ground-control station on Qeshm Island, near the Strait of Hormuz, according to the release.
No U.S. personnel were injured in the attacks or the subsequent military response, CENTCOM said.
