Fort Carson, Colorado (FOX 44) – A Fort Carson official has confirmed that the body of Sgt. Devin A. Seibel who was killed in a training accident in Iraq has been returned to American soil.

His dignified transfer took place at Dover Air Force Base.

As of Tuesday, Fort Carson officials said a time and date for a memorial service have yet to be determined.

Sgt Seibel died on May 31, 2026, at Erbil Airbase, Iraq, during a training-related incident. The Soldier was assigned to the Air Ambulance Company, 2nd Battalion, 4th Combat Aviation Brigade, Fort Carson, Colo. The incident is under investigation.

The accident occurred as American soldiers were training with British personnel. The British Ministry of Defence reported that 29-year-old Lance Corporal James Stewart Freeman died in the same incident.

No details of the accident have been released with the incident under investigation.

He was a 2018 graduate of Robinson High School.
