Iran-Israel War Live Updates: Escalating tensions between the United States and Iran have sparked fresh military confrontation, raising concerns over wider regional instability in West Asia
Iran Israel War Live Updates:
The United States has launched military action against Iran, with US Central Command (Centcom) announcing that its “forces began launching self-defense strikes against Iran”. According to Centcom, the operation was carried out in response to “yesterday’s downing of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter”.
The development comes after President Donald Trump signalled that Washington “must respond” to the alleged incident involving the helicopter. However, the president later appeared to soften his stance, describing the episode as “wasn’t a big deal”.
The Iranian state broadcaster said strikes along Iran’s southern coast near the Strait of Hormuz had stopped after the US launched them in response to an attack that downed a helicopter. “The situation is now reported to be calm,” IRIB said.
Iran has rejected suggestions that it intentionally targeted the aircraft. Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister said there was no deliberate targeting of a US helicopter by Iran.
Amid the growing tensions, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that foreign forces operating near Iranian territory should leave.
Meanwhile, violence continued elsewhere in the region. Israeli forces killed nine people in Tyre city after issuing forced displacement orders, as military operations and deadly attacks persisted across southern Lebanon.
In Washington, US Vice President JD Vance said any agreement reached with Iran would benefit Americans, regardless of Israel’s position. He stated that any deal with Iran would be good for people in the US, whether Israel likes it or not.

Iran has issued a stern warning to the United States after American forces carried out strikes on parts of the country in the wake of the downing of a US helicopter. Speaking on Wednesday, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran would respond firmly to any aggression or threat against the nation.
The remarks came after US military action that President Donald Trump characterised as retaliation for the downed American aircraft, further intensifying tensions between Washington and Tehran.
In a post on X, Araghchi signalled that Iran’s armed forces were prepared to act against any perceived challenge to the country’s security.
“Despite its defeats on the battlefield, the U.S. opted to test our determination. Our Powerful Armed Forces will leave no attack or threat unanswered. Leave our region if you want to be safe,” Araghchi posted on X.
