Tiryaki Syria and Syrian Sovereign Fund Partner to Boost Edible Oil Production and Food Security - News and Statistics

Tiryaki Syria has formed a strategic partnership with the Syrian Sovereign Fund to run the Al Alamiya Oil Industry Factory in Hama, Syria, as announced on June 12. This collaboration is designed to strengthen the nation’s agricultural processing industry and support food security.

The 10-year agreement, revealed on the same day, envisions the facility processing roughly 300,000 metric tons of soybeans and 100,000 metric tons of sunflower seeds each year, with a total value of $500 million. The plant is anticipated to become a key industrial center for Syria’s edible oil, food, animal feed, poultry, and livestock sectors, promoting the development of integrated agricultural value chains.

Tiryaki Syria is a part of Tiryaki Anadolu, a fully owned subsidiary of Turkey-headquartered Tiryaki Agro. Tiryaki Agro is a worldwide agricultural commodities and supply chain firm that operates 30 production, processing, and storage sites across four continents and markets its products in more than 50 countries.

Attendees at the signing ceremony included Mazen Al-Salhani, chairman of the Syrian Sovereign Fund; Basel Ayyoub, head of the food and feed sector at the Syrian Sovereign Fund; Hashem Shashaa, country manager of Tiryaki Syria; and representatives from the fund’s legal and finance departments. The financial details of the deal were not made public.

Leveraging over six decades of global experience in logistics, sourcing, operations management, and agricultural value chain development, Tiryaki Agro stated it will supply technical expertise and operational knowledge to ensure the facility’s effective operation. Structured training and capacity-building initiatives are intended to enable the local workforce to eventually run, manage, and market the facility’s products on their own.
