Iranian media have reported that 17 people have been arrested in Ilam province on charges of “espionage” for a US–Israeli “enemy street sabotage network.”

Fars News Agency reported on Saturday, June 20, that these individuals were identified and detained by Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence.

According to the report, three of those arrested were identified as “leaders” of the group, while the other 14 were members of the “sabotage network.”

Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence claimed that the detainees had played a role in last winter’s protests.

Following the protests last winter in Iran, dozens of people have been arrested by security agencies on charges of “espionage” and “having links” with Israel.
