Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday as Tehran stepped up diplomatic engagement with Pakistan, which has emerged as a key channel for communication between Iran and the United States.
Iran’s state media reported that Araghchi travelled to Pakistan as part of broader diplomatic efforts, with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also visiting Islamabad. The two Iranian officials held meetings with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif following their arrival, according to Iran’s state news agency IRNA.

The visit comes as Pakistan continues to play a mediating role in facilitating discussions between Tehran and Washington, amid efforts to keep diplomatic channels open and address outstanding issues between the two sides.
Before travelling to Islamabad, Araghchi was in Oman with Iran’s chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, where they were engaged in diplomatic consultations as part of Iran’s wider outreach.
The Iranian foreign minister’s movement between Oman and Pakistan highlights Tehran’s efforts to build regional support and maintain dialogue amid sensitive negotiations involving the United States.
