President Donald Trump asked Congress to pass a supplemental spending package to backfill the cost of the war in Iran and respond to public health crises abroad.

The $87.6 billion appropriations request is dominated by the $67.1 billion increase for Defense Department, according to a copy of the request obtained by Bloomberg Government. The increase offsets the costs of the US-Israel war with Iran that Trump is attempting to wind down with a controversial peace deal.
