For the second time this summer, Sheffield driver Andy Bachetti grabbed a Saturday night sweep at Lebanon Valley Speedway.
Bachetti won his second Big Block race of the season and doubled up with a win in 358-Modifieds. He led both series entering the weekend, and has built on them since.
He now leads Big Blocks with 309 points to Marc Johnson’s 281. In 358s, Bachetti’s lead is 322 to second-place Brett Haas’ 291. Haas, racing out of Pittsfield, is third in Big Blocks.
Bachetti beat Matt Pupello in Big Blocks by .562 seconds after climbing all the way up through the race.
“It’s a tough deal coming from back where we started,” Bachetti said via a press release. “We just picked the right lines. Brett Hearn told me years ago that if you can start 15th every week and drive to the front, you’re doing something.”
There was a single caution during the 30-lap event. Pupello took the lead midway through the race, but Bachetti climbed into second place on the 23rd lap and started eyeing the leader. Eventually it was the Berkshire County driver’s flag.
A series of cautions jostled the 358s race, one in which Bachetti started 16th and once again climbed the ladder. This time he had only 24 laps to do so, but fought his way into second by the 16th lap.
By that time, Haas was out in front, but his Berkshire rival tracked him down with five laps still to drive. He held Haas off by 1.47 seconds for his fifth 358s win of the year.
