Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon and York Counties
Now the alert day forecast from the WGAL News 8 storm team. So we’re tracking severe weather starting to move into the Susquehanna Valley. The first of the few, uh, severe thunderstorm warnings is just to our western portions of the viewing area. This one specifically for southern, uh, or for portions of Perry County getting into Cumberland County. Carlisle got *** little bit of *** downpour starting to blow up actually towards, uh, Harrisburg right now got *** downpour over the capital city, but you can see all these lightning bolts starting to close in on Neuville. This one has wind speeds of potentially 60 MPH. This is going until 7 o’clock. This evening also got *** little bit of *** of *** thunderstorm just starting to move in from the north. Something else we’re going to be keeping an eye on, look at this complex of showers and thunderstorms starting to move in from the west. Also keeping an eye on to the south, but there are also severe thunderstorm warnings even this, uh, toward, not for our viewing area, but there is *** severe thunderstorm that has *** destructive tag which tells us that this has most likely 80 mile per hour winds getting packed with this thunderstorm. So that’s what we’re going to be watching as we get into the rest of this. Evening, uh, you can even see the downpour that’s just over, uh, the capital city. You can even see the thunderstorm off to the west of Harrisburg on the other side of the river there. So something that we’re gonna be continuing to watch is that the threat for that severe weather and this severe thunderstorm watch, by the way, is for the entire Susquehanna Valley. This is going on until 11 p.m. tonight. So just keep that in mind for fireworks. We’re probably gonna be seeing *** few storms tonight. So just keep that in mind. And in terms of timing this out for you, still gonna be seeing this throughout the area, this, the scattered. Activity of thunderstorms, uh, through 10 o’clock, 11 o’clock tonight, but you can see the bulk of those showers and storms really start to move out. May see some lingering showers once we get into the overnight period. The other story here is the heat and humidity. Check this out. Temperatures into the 90s, upper 90s in most areas, and, and pair that with the, uh, with the lower to mid 60s in terms of dew points. Makes it feel like the triple digits out there across the area. So for the rest of this evening, expect scattered storms. Some of them should be, could be some strong to severe. Here’s what that little ellipsis would say 90 degrees for this evening. Tonight 74 degrees. Storms will end. We’ll see some of those lingering showers, but we’ll be, will be partly to mainly cloudy. And then for tomorrow it’s another impact day, partly sunny with the chance of more scattered showers and possible storms. And for more on that and the extended forecast, I’m gonna send that over to my colleague meteorologist Mike Susko. Mike, what can we expect? Thanks, Ryan. Yeah, we’re gonna expect kind of *** similar setup as we go into your Sunday here. So Sunday we start off dry, but there’s *** boundary that kind of sits up. Across the Susquehanna Valley here, so as we make this go into motion, notice in the afternoon right around 4 or 5 o’clock we’re going to start watching some more scattered showers and thunderstorms tomorrow develop across the area just like today could produce some gusty winds and locally heavy rain and also like today, once we have the sun go down, that is going to end up seeing these storms begin to weaken. And now as we go into your Monday, model’s been going back and forth *** little bit on this, but it does look like on Monday we’ll see another round of showers and thunderstorms. Here it’s been going back and forth in terms of the timing *** little bit, but notice how in the afternoon we could see *** little bit more storm activity to start off the work week next week. This is also the excessive rainfall outlook. Basically what this means is the higher the number, the more likely you are to get flash flooding. We have *** level 2 out of 4 risk. This is on *** scale of 1 to 4. What it means is heavy rain potential could lead to some scattered localized flash flooding, especially in areas with poor drainage. Now one thing is it’s been so dry that it’s going to Take *** little bit to help for that to happen, but because we could see so many of these storms at once, that could also lead to some flash flooding. Another thing is the severe potential have *** level 2 out of 5 risk again. The greater risk is going to be closer to the Maryland state line, so the farther south you go, the better chance you have to get that severe chance on your Sunday in the afternoon and evening again for tomorrow with those scattered showers and thunderstorms and damaging winds being the primary concern. We’re going to do this again on Monday in terms of. Heavy rain potential again level 2 out of 4 they’re in yellow, meaning that we could see some scattered to localized areas of flash flooding and poor drainage areas. So when we look at your 10 day forecast, we have the impact day for tomorrow and Monday. But notice also, AJ, tomorrow, last day of the heat wave. We get to 92 on Sunday, go to 80 by the time we get to your Monday, 82 on Tuesday, and then we’ll be back in the mid to upper 80s for the majority of next week, which happens to be our average for this time of year.

Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.Locations impacted include Lebanon, Hershey, Ephrata, Colonial Park, Elizabethtown, Progress, Lititz, Middletown, Mount Joy, Palmyra, Linglestown, and Manheim.This includes the following Interstates: The Pennsylvania Turnpike from mile markers 248 to 282.
