An unidentified drone crashed on Wednesday at the Al-Faw Grand Port in Iraq’s southern Basra province, striking an open area within the large-scale port construction site, News.Az reports, citing Iraq’s state-run News Agency (INA).
Video footage from the scene showed the drone crashing into the site before exploding on impact.

The blast ignited a fire and sent a cloud of smoke rising above the construction area.
According to INA, casualties were reported among the workers at the port. Authorities said the damage was minor and limited to the loss of some materials at the impact site.
Local military and security forces responded swiftly to the incident, sealing off the affected area. Forensic specialists and bomb disposal teams were deployed to examine the wreckage and secure the site, according to local reports.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the origin of the drone, identify its intended target, and establish who was responsible for the attack.
The incident comes amid heightened military tensions across the region following the collapse of a temporary truce between the US and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz.
