LEBANON, N.H. (WCAX) – A former campaign staffer for Sen. Bernie Sanders faces a slew of charges after a dramatic traffic incident in New Hampshire over the weekend.
Police in Lebanon say that on Saturday evening, Sheila Healy, 39, of Montpelier, was parked in the middle of Mechanic Street, blocking traffic and yelling at passing drivers.
Police say she was trying to refill her tank with a gas can in the middle of the road and refused to respond to officers’ commands. They say when she refused to get out of her car, officers attempted to arrest her and a struggle ensued. Police say she reached toward an officer’s belt and tried to grab his gun.
Healy faces charges including attempting to take a firearm from an officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and reckless operation.

A spokesperson for Sanders said in a statement that Healy “has not had any formal role or voluntary role since the end of the 2020 presidential campaign. She is not associated with and does not represent the Friends of Bernie Sanders campaign or the Senate office.”
A request to access body camera footage of the incident was denied due to it being an active investigation.
