Vermont woman arrested after stopping traffic, trying to take officer’s gun in Lebanon, NH
LEBANON, N.H. —
A Montpelier woman was arrested in New Hampshire on Saturday after police said she resisted arrest and allegedly tried to take an officer’s gun.
The Lebanon Police Department said Sheila Healy, 39, had stopped her car in the middle of traffic on Mechanic Street, which blocked other cars from passing.
Police learned that Healy had been shouting at other motorists that she was being targeted by a sniper and refused to move her vehicle. Officers learned that the Hartford Police Department had seen her speeding and running red lights with her hazard lights on moments before she was seen in Lebanon.
Officers arrived on scene and saw Healy trying to refuel the car with a gas can. They ordered her to stay away from the car, but when she didn’t listen, police arrested her.
While being arrested, officials said Healy tried to get away and also tried to take one of the officers’ holstered guns.
Healy is being charged with resisting arrest, reckless operation, simple assault on a law enforcement officer and more. She was ordered held at the Grafton County House of Corrections and is due in court on Monday.
