The main land border crossing between Kuwait and Iraq reopened on Sunday, days after a drone attack prompted its temporary closure.
The Abdali border crossing resumed operations after Iraqi border authorities confirmed it was safe to reopen following Thursday’s incident, News.Az reports, citing Reuters.
Kuwait’s army said the crossing was closed after a drone attack caused material damage at the facility. No casualties were reported.
Located in Kuwait’s northern Al-Jahra Province, the Abdali crossing is a vital route for passenger travel and commercial trade between Kuwait and Iraq, making it one of the busiest land links between the neighboring countries.
Authorities have not identified who was responsible for launching the drones, and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The reopening restores a key transport and trade corridor that had been temporarily disrupted by the security incident, allowing the movement of travelers and goods to resume between the two countries.
