As Israelis, we are so deep in our terrible odyssey that we have lost the ability to see how we appear from the outside. Nolan’s interpretation provides a resounding slap of reality
It seems everything has already been said about today’s greatest Hollywood director, Christopher Nolan, and his adaptation of Homer’s epic. It’s not immediately clear how a Hollywood film about a mythical hero who embarked on a journey across the seas more than 3,000 years ago and encountered a Cyclops along the way could possibly be relevant to present-day Israel. But the real story lies in the soul of that man, not in the incredible events that accompanied him.
