The president posted that he deserves some credit for Chevron and other oil companies making more money, but he left out the major reason for their windfall profits: His war in Iran effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz, sending oil prices up to levels that enabled Exxon Mobil’s quarterly profits to double and Chevron’s to nearly quadruple.

Trump said after watching Fox Business Network interview Mike Wirth, the chairman and CEO of Chevron, that
he’s owed a debt of gratitude.

“The only thing he conveniently forgot to mention is that, without the genius, foresight, strength, and stability, of the TRUMP Administration, the Oil Industry, and our Country itself, would be DEAD!” Trump said.

Trump said Chevron’s profits were made possible by his military incursion in Venezuela, and called on oil companies to lower prices for consumers, even though higher fuel prices have delivered the profitability gains Trump wants credit for.
