On August 6, UKMTO recorded explosions near an oil tanker as it passed through the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of Oman.
According to the British organization, the incident occurred nine nautical miles southeast of the coast of Oman on the evening of August 5; the crew and vessel are safe, and no environmental damage was reported.
Iranian officials had previously stated that they were negotiating with Oman on the joint management of the strategic waterway.
