Timothy Cassidy of Lebanon has been indicted by a federal grand jury for failing to register as a sex offender when engaging in interstate travel.
According to a media release from the United States Attorney’s office in Harrisburg, Cassidy, age 33, also has an address in Menominee, Michigan.
Cassidy was indicted by the grand jury on August 12. The U.S. Attorney alleges that “from May 2025 through the present, despite being required to register under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (“SORNA”), Cassidy traveled in interstate commerce from Pennsylvania to Michigan and failed to register his address as required by SORNA,” and that he failed “to register as a sex offender after relocating to Maryland.”
The indictment charges Cassidy with a single count of violating Section 2250(a) of the federal criminal code, “failure to register as a sex offender,” a felony. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.
No other details, including whether Cassidy is in custody or remains at large, were available at publication time, since additional charging documents had not yet been made public. The media release, however, said that the case has been investigated by the U.S. Marshals Service. U.S. Marshals frequently hunt and apprehend fugitives from justice.
Pennsylvania state court records indicate that a Timothy J. Cassidy, Jr., born on March 24, 1993, was convicted and sentenced in Lebanon County court in December 2024 for “failure to provide accurate registration info,” a felony, and that a warrant for his arrest was issued on January 22, 2025.
According to the U.S. Attorney, the new federal charges were brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
