Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan, discussed on Tuesday regional developments and approaches to de-escalate tensions.

The two ministers stressed the need to de-escalate the situation and return to dialogue, according to a statement cited by the state-run Iraqi News Agency (INA).

During their phone conversation, the two sides discussed developments in the region in light of growing tensions and the significant implications for regional security and stability.

Hussein and Fuad discussed measures for resolving issues peacefully, preventing tensions from rising and ensuring regional stability.

Hussein stated that continuing collaboration between the two nations, as well as with other countries in the region, is critical to settling the ongoing conflict.

The coordination between Baghdad and Riyadh follows US-Saudi attacks on Iran-linked militia locations in several Iraqi provinces on July 29.

Baghdad’s security cooperation with Riyadh has grown more vital as the government seeks to prevent Iran-backed militias from drawing Iraq into a larger regional conflict.
