When: Cornwall-Lebanon school board meeting, March 16.
What happened: The board approved about $223,000 in projects throughout the school district, with work taking place this summer.
Floor replacements: Three of the district’s elementary schools — Cornwall, Ebenezer, and South Lebanon — will have their floors replaced. Jean Hentz, director of business affairs, said during the board’s work session that district staff evaluates classrooms each year to determine if any work is needed. The contract went to Nolt’s Floor Covering for about $36,000.
Other Ebenezer work: Ebenezer Elementary will also see gutter and bleacher replacement. Hentz told the board that both are original from 1996. The gutters are separating and leaking, and bleacher parks are becoming obsolete, and some seats are missing. Gable & Son Construction Roofing and Crane Service will do the gutter replacement for about $93,000, and Builders Specialty Services will do the bleacher replacement for about $77,000.
Union Canal paving: The board also approved work at Union Canal Elementary School. For around $17,000, Lancaster Asphalt Systems will repair and resurface the parking lot. Hentz said during the work session that the lot is original from 1990.
Capital reserve: All projects will be paid out of the capital reserve fund. With this approved maintenance and other obligations, the projected balance will be at $3.57 million to start the 2026-27 school year.
What’s next: The school board will meet next at 5:30 p.m. April 13.
