BEIRUT – 20 August 2026: Southern Lebanon came under heavy Israeli bombardment early Thursday, with Israeli fighter jets carrying out a series of airstrikes targeting several areas in Nabatieh district.

The strikes hit the heights of Ali Al-Taher, Doha Kfar Reman and Al-Debsha area, amid heavy and sustained artillery fire.

Local sources said Israeli aircraft used powerful missiles in the strikes, with loud explosions heard as far as Sidon and surrounding areas.

Footage circulating online showed the aftermath of the strikes.

The attack comes days after eleven people were killed in Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon in one of the deadliest days of attacks since large-scale fighting ended in June.

Seven people, including three children and two women, were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a house in the southern Lebanese village of Ansar early this week, while four others were killed in a separate strike on Deir El Zahrani.
