Amid all the tough language, diplomacy hasn’t disappeared.

Egypt is trying to revive talks between Iran and the United States and has been speaking with Iranian officials. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has also spoken publicly about resolving the conflict through diplomacy.

That doesn’t mean a breakthrough is close. But for Gulf residents, any serious return to negotiations would be important because it could reduce the risk of another sudden military escalation.
