Pars Today – At the conclusion of the Pakistani army chief’s visit to Tehran, the Pakistan Army said in a statement that Field Marshal Asim Munir’s talks with senior Iranian officials had been constructive.
According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, the Pakistan Army’s public relations office said early Tuesday that Field Marshal Asim Munir, commander of the Pakistani Army, held official meetings on Monday with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.
The statement said Munir’s one-day visit to Tehran was part of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to break the deadlock in US-Iran negotiations and explore ways to achieve lasting peace and bring an end to continued instability in the region.
It added that the Tehran talks were comprehensive and focused on measures needed to prevent further escalation, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and accelerate efforts to end the conflict.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional peace and ways to resolve disputes through negotiations.
The Pakistan Army concluded by saying that Iranian officials expressed appreciation for Islamabad’s constructive role and sincere efforts to facilitate dialogue, reduce tensions, and find a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
