Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Mohsen Rezaei has said Tehran remains distrustful of the United States and called on Washington to change its behaviour.
Rezaei made the remarks during a meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, in Tehran on Monday, Iran’s English-language Press TV reports.
Rezaei said Iran remained distrustful of the United States and called on Washington to take practical steps to implement the provisions of the Pakistan-brokered Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Tehran and Washington in June.
He also stressed that Iran maintains tight security control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
For his part, Munir highlighted Pakistan’s extensive efforts to facilitate the signing of the Islamabad MoU.
The Pakistani army chief reaffirmed the brotherly and friendly ties between Iran and Pakistan, saying Islamabad had made extensive efforts to enhance security along the border between the two neighbouring countries.
Earlier on Monday, Munir held separate meetings with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
