Graham Arnold has extended his contract as Iraq’s head coach through the 2027 Asian Cup, months after guiding Iraq at its first World Cup in 40 years. Arnold, a former Australia coach, renewed for six months despite being offered a four-year deal. He was appointed in May 2025 and led Iraq to the World Cup via an intercontinental playoff. Iraq lost all three group games but gained valuable experience. The team will face Australia, Singapore, and Tajikistan in the Asian Cup group stage. Arnold plans to identify new players for upcoming tournaments.
