A woman was killed and six people were injured in an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon on Thursday, Lebanese state media reported.
A child, a woman and two elderly men were among the people injured in the strike on the town of Arab Salim in Nabatiyeh district.
The attack struck and destroyed the home of the woman who was killed in the village centre, just two days after her wedding, state news agency NNA reported. Lebanese security sources stated that there had been at least 10 attacks in the area around Nabatiyeh.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Iran-backed Hezbollah had used two explosive-laden drones against Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon overnight. Israel said its latest strikes were in response to the incident.
“As part of the strikes, the IDF struck Hezbollah weapon storage facilities that were established in order to harm Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers,” the IDF said.
The military did not initially report any casualties in Lebanon. Hezbollah has not commented.
Despite a ceasefire, Israel and Hezbollah continue to accuse each other of violating the agreement.
Israeli forces remain stationed in southern Lebanon and carry out strikes almost daily, which repeatedly result in casualties.
The latest framework agreement provides for both the withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon and the disarmament of Hezbollah by the Lebanese army. Neither provision has yet been implemented.
