Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): It is said that in total, at least 20 seafarers or port workers have lost their lives, 35 people have been injured and one person is missing. About half of these incidents were related to oil tankers, 20 percent to container ships and 15 percent to bulk carriers.

Liberian-flagged ships have been affected the most with 13 incidents, followed by Panamanian and Marshall Islands-flagged ships with 10 incidents each. Iranian-flagged ships have also been involved in four incidents.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has classified 47 of these incidents as “attacks”.
