The Lebanese Armed Forces have taken delivery of the second shipment of military vehicles donated by Greece at the Port of Beirut.
The package includes 13 M113 armored personnel carriers, 10 Steyr 680M military trucks, and spare parts drawn from Hellenic Army surplus stock following maintenance in Greece.
The delivery builds on an initial batch sent in mid-January, bringing the total number of vehicles provided by the NATO member to the Middle Eastern country this year to 46.
Officials from both nations attended the handover, including Greek Military Attaché Col. Nikolaos Salpingidis and Head of the Consular Section Ignatios Papadimitriou.

‘Tangible Proof’
The delivery comes as Beirut prepares to expand its presence in southern Lebanon to consolidate state authority.
The region is currently grappling with a displacement crisis due to the ongoing hostilities between Israel and the Iran-backed Shia Islamist paramilitary group Hezbollah.
“This donation comes as part of the Greek authorities’ support for the military institution, with the aim of enhancing its operational capabilities amid the challenges facing Lebanon,” the Lebanese Army Command said.
“This initiative also reflects the strong cooperation between the Lebanese and Greek Armed Forces and reaffirms the Greek side’s commitment to continuing its support for the Lebanese Army in recognition of its essential role in maintaining security and stability.”
Meanwhile, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis called the Lebanese Armed Forces a “cornerstone” of the country’s territorial integrity, noting that Athens remains prepared to support efforts to strengthen the army’s ability to exercise authority nationwide.
“I believe this is yet another tangible proof that our solidarity goes beyond mere words,” Mitsotakis stated.
