Washington, DC – US President Donald Trump downplayed the ongoing military standoff with Iran, calling it “a minor matter” for the United States.
This came a day after his Vice President, JD Vance, asserted that the conflict did not constitute a “war.”
In remarks to reporters at the White House, Trump clarified that he preferred to describe the situation
as a “military dispute.” He also likened it to Washington’s significant success in Venezuela.

These statements by the US president coincide with the conflict with Iran entering its seventh month.
This comes just weeks before the midterm congressional elections scheduled for November.
Trump indicated that US forces are only carrying out “sporadic strikes.”
He emphasized that the United States is “not currently fighting,” meaning there are no ongoing ground engagements.
He also claimed that his country has established complete control over the Strait of Hormuz
and inflicted significant damage on Iranian forces, describing the achievement as “amazing.”

When questioned about his characterization of the conflict as “minor” despite the deaths of American soldiers, Trump expressed his annoyance.
He preferred, however, to compare the Iranian conflict to the Vietnam and Afghanistan wars,
which drained Washington for years and cost it dearly in human and material terms.
The US president concluded by asserting that the military operations had achieved their primary objective of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
These remarks were made on the sidelines of a ceremony at the White House to sign two executive orders related to beef processing, attended by a large gathering of cattle ranchers.
