The Story of the IDF Armored Corps’ First Druze Soldier, Who Died in the Yom Kippur War

The military cemetery in the Galilee village of Hurfeish is one of the smallest in Israel. Twenty-eight fallen soldiers are buried there. The first grave, in the first row, belongs to Munhal Amer, who was killed in the Yom Kippur War. The Israel Defense Forces’ Yizkor memorial website describes him as “the first Druze fallen soldier laid to rest in the section for fallen IDF soldiers established in Hurfeish.”
