The vessel caught fire and was left adrift after the incident, with all crew members evacuated, UK maritime agency UKMTO said

A cargo vessel transiting the Strait of Hormuz was struck by an “unknown projectile” on Wednesday, triggering a fire and leaving two people injured, according to a British maritime agency.

“The Company Security Officer of a cargo vessel reports being struck by an unknown projectile. The vessel is on fire and adrift,” the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said.

“All crew have been evacuated with 2 casualties reported.”

Authorities are investigating the incident, while no environmental impact has been reported so far, the agency said.

UKMTO advised vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity to the agency.
