Iraq said Saturday the residence of Nechirvan Barzani, president of the semi-autonomous northern Kurdish region of the country, was targeted by a drone, prompting Iraq’s prime minister to launch an immediate investigation.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani condemned the attack, in a statement from his office. He ordered the creation of a joint Iraq-Kurdistan security and technical team to investigate the incident in the city of Duhok and identify those responsible, the statement said.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
