Shafaq News- Tehran
A joint US-Israeli airstrike struck the “B1 Bridge” near the
Azimiya area in Karaj, leading to injuries and partial destruction in the
facility, Iranian media reported on Thursday.
The bridge is located on the road leading to Chalous Avenue,
a major mountainous route linking Tehran to the Caspian Sea, and spans the
Karaj River. It is considered a vital part of the highway connecting the
capital with the city of Karaj, serving as a key transportation artery in the
region.
Formed in 2026 by Iranian civil architects, the structure is
regarded as a major engineering project and one of the most prominent
infrastructure developments in Iran and the broader Middle East, featuring
advanced design and large-scale dimensions.
It extends approximately 1,050 meters in length and rises to
an estimated height of 156 meters above ground level. It is about 38 meters
wide, comprising three traffic lanes in each direction in addition to a
dedicated service lane.
