WASHINGTON, D.C. (WTVD) — A North Carolina man is facing charges after allegedly protesting the war in Iran during a Senate Armed Services Subcommittee hearing on Wednesday.
Cell phone video shows 44-year-old Brian McGinnis, a Green Party Senate candidate, yelling “No one wants to fight for Israel” as police officers drag him away. He is seen wearing a Marine Corps uniform, and his campaign website states he is a Marine veteran.
At one point, Republican Montana Senator Tim Sheehy is seen assisting the officers. Capitol Police say McGinnis and three officers were injured following the incident.
McGinnis has been charged with assault on a police officer and resisting arrest. Protests are not allowed inside Congressional buildings.
The McGinnis campaign has been contacted for comment.
