LEBANON, Tenn. (WSMV) – Police in Lebanon say officers arrested a man over the weekend for reckless endangerment after he allegedly fired shots into the air.
Officers were called out to Greentree Pointe Apartments along West Main Street to investigate reports of shots fired, and after they arrived, they heard a new gunshot.
They looked around the building and found Devonta Adkins, 32. They also found multiple spent shell casings on the back porch of one apartment, near the rear door where they found Adkins.
Officers detained him, according to a Facebook post from the department.
The tenant gave officers permission to search the unit, and police soon found a stolen handgun and unspent ammunition that matched the shells found outside.
“Adkins later admitted to firing the weapon into the air outside the apartment,” police said. “Officers also discovered Adkins had two active failure to appear warrants out of Metro Nashville.”
The 32-year-old was charged with reckless endangerment, possession of a weapon while under the influence and theft of a firearm in connection with the weekend investigation.
“We’re thankful no one was injured and appreciate the quick, professional work of our officers in safely resolving this incident,” LPD said.
