Five Israeli soldiers were wounded Wednesday in a Hezbollah rocket attack in the town of Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon, according to the Israeli army and Hebrew media.
The army said one soldier was seriously wounded and four others sustained light injuries after troops came under rocket fire. The soldiers were evacuated to hospital.
Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth also said the soldiers were wounded in Bint Jbeil, where Israeli forces have been facing fierce resistance from Hezbollah fighters for days.
The Israeli army has maintained a siege around the town, one of Hezbollah’s main strongholds in southern Lebanon.
Over 2,000 people have been killed and 1 million displaced due to Israeli attacks on Lebanon since March 2. The latest assault began soon after start of the Iran war as Hezbollah retaliated in support of Tehran.
