To quote former US Speaker of the House Tip O’Neill, “All politics in local”
Are you upset that President Trump pressed Prime Minister Netenyahu to declare a ten-day ceasefire in Lebanon? If you are, don’t be unhappy. All is well. It was a consummate political masterstroke that paves the way for the fall of the Ayatollah/IRGC regime that holds the people of Iran hostage. Trump knows that the ideology of the Ayatollah regime will not allow it to accept his terms. When the ceasefire expires Trump needed to make sure that the narrative about the reason for the resumption of the war cannot be used by his political opponents to stop his MAGA agenda.
In order to be able to facilitate the collapse of the regime in Theran Trump needed to defang his domestic political opponents. To do this Trump had to make sure that when the Ayatollah/IRGC regime rejects Trumps terms for cessation of the war, neither the regime nor his domestic political opponents could blame Israel.
First, Trump needed to make sure that the Ayatollah/IRGC regime couldn’t blame Israel when it refuses his terms. Once the Pakistani PM falsely declared that a cessation of Israeli attacks on Lebanon were part of the US/Iran ceasefire, even though it wasn’t, a narrative started to form that this was true. Then, once the United States so called NATO “allies” of France, Spain and the UK jumped on the bandwagon and declared that there had to be a ceasefire in Lebanon or the US/Iran negotiations were jeopardized. When this happened and the liberal legacy media amplified this narrative, Trump knew he had to eliminate Israels attacks on Hezbollah in Lebanon as a possible reason the regime in Theran could use as a reason to refuse Trumps term for ending the war, (i.e. he couldn’t let them say “we were willing to make a deal, but its Trumps fault we didn’t because he let Israel violate the case fire).
Also, the Democrats in the Senate fell 4 votes short of having a War Power Act resolution pass in the Senate on Tuesday, April 14th. In order to neutralize this effort Trump has to be careful not to give fodder to the “were fighting Iran for Israel” radicals isolationists in the Republican party. While these extremist former Republicans are actually very few, they are massively amplified by the liberal US main stream legacy media (i.e. CNN, NBC, MSNOW, ABC), so they seem much larger and more powerful than they actually are. So, in order to defang this narrative and stop it from growing among the Republicans, Trump got Netanyahu to agree to a short cease fire in Lebanon. By doing this Trump made sure the isolationists can’t say: “Netanyahu screwed up any chance of a deal between the US and Iran by not stopping bombing Lebanon in order to keep the US fighting for Israel”.
Now when the fanatics in the IRGC, and the true believer Mullahs in Tehran and Ayatollahs in Qom will not be able to blame Israel when they turn down Trump’s terms for ending the war and the blockade. When they turn down Trumps terms, and the cease fire runs out in a few days from now, nobody can rationally blame Israel, and the war can resume.
Israel can take out the remaining targets in Iran (power plants, electrical grid, bridges, cellphone networks, communication centers, and the remaining leadership, including the politicians, while the US keeps the physical and economic blockade. As a result the IRGC/Ayatollah regime will no longer be able to pay its soldiers or militias, supply them, or even feed them. The US will also be able keep an eye on the Uranium while the US Treasury department (with the cooperation of some very pissed off gulf Arab Sunni Sheik and Emirs) will seize every account and every penny of every regime Mullah, Ayatollah, IRGC gangster, politician and their families.
After a couple of weeks of this bombing and economic strangulation, when Iran is completely in the dark for weeks, without power for anything, and the regime in Theran can’t even feed the IRGC or Basij, the Iranian people will rise up and bring down every mullah, ayatollah, IRGC officer, soldier, as well as every Basij thug and hanging judge. That will be the end of the 47 year long reign of the terrorist Islamic Republic of Iran.
