WANA (Apr 20) – Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization has announced the resumption of passenger flights at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini and Mehrabad airports starting April 20, 2026, as part of a phased reopening of the country’s aviation network.
According to an official statement, operations have resumed at the two main airports serving the Iranian capital following necessary coordination measures. The organization also confirmed that, beginning Saturday, April 25, passenger flights will restart at 10 additional airports across the country, including those in Urmia, Kermanshah, Abadan, Shiraz, Kerman, Rasht, Yazd, Zahedan, Gorgan, and Birjand.
The Civil Aviation Organization of Iran emphasized that passengers should purchase tickets only through authorized websites listed on its official portal. It also urged the public to rely exclusively on its official announcements for updates regarding the operational status of other airports.
The statement further noted that Mashhad Airport has already returned to operation and resumed services as of today.
With these developments, a total of 13 airports across Iran are expected to be operational by Saturday, signaling a gradual return of the country’s air transport network to normal conditions.
