Joint studies on a railway link between Saudi Arabia and Turkey via Jordan and Syria are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026.

This was stated by Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Salih al-Yassir, in an interview with Al Arabiya Business.

According to the minister, the implementation of the project will contribute to the development of regional integration, support trade and the creation of a sustainable land transport system between the countries of the region.

“Saudi Arabia’s railway network now reaches the border with Jordan through the Al-Hadithah crossing point, which is considered a strategic hub for further expanding international transport links,” he noted.

Al-Yassir recalled that in March, the Logistics Routes Initiative was launched at the Islamic Port of Jeddah, aiming to increase the flexibility of supply chains and ensure uninterrupted trade in the waters of the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf.

The Minister emphasized that the country’s ports and transport corridors operate within the framework of close cooperation, ensuring the sustainable movement of goods between countries in the region.

According to him, Saudi Arabia’s ports on the Red Sea have the capacity to handle more than 17 million containers per year and play an important role in receiving cargo diverted from the Persian Gulf countries.

“Efforts to increase the readiness of Red Sea ports continue, while the country’s airports remain open to aircraft from friendly countries,” he noted.
