Two IDF soldiers operating in southern Lebanon were wounded on Friday after an anti-tank missile hit their position in the second incident that day in which Israeli soldiers were injured.
The soldiers were performing forward defensive operations against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon when several anti-tank missiles were fired towards their force.
As a result, two of them were wounded and evacuated, while the terrorist squad that carried out the attack was engaged soon thereafter.
Following the incident, the IDF established a curfew for nearby communities in order to increase alertness, although the military clarified that there were no suspicions of possible terrorist infiltrations into Israeli territory.
Earlier on Friday, five Israeli soldiers from the Givati Brigade were badly wounded by anti-tank missiles as they were deploying near the border with Lebanon in northern Israel, the IDF confirmed.
The military added that, in the same incident, three other Givati soldiers were lightly wounded.
The IDF’s confirmation that its soldiers had been wounded comes after Hezbollah, earlier that morning, issued a statement saying that it had initiated a “series of operations” targeting “Israeli sites and bases.”
