CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — More than 100 Iowa National Guard soldiers are coming home today after serving in Iraq and Syria.
A welcome home ceremony is set for this afternoon at the National Guard Armory on Wright Brothers Boulevard. The 107 soldiers will reunite with their friends and family.
The soldiers were assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division. They are returning from deployment in Iraq and Syria, where they served to reduce the capabilities of ISIS in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
More than 300 Iowa National Guard soldiers are still deployed in the Middle East.
